Latest news | I do Believe we're seeing stars! ⭐ | | We start this week with news that two iconic bands and a charity fundraiser will be the next names added to our Walk of Fame!
Chart‑topping acts The Lathums and Lottery Winners will both get Believe Stars to add to their number one albums - celebrating their success in showcasing our borough’s thriving music scene on an international stage.
Joining them is community champion Mike Sharkey, whose leadership of the Team Wigan and Leigh fundraising collective has helped raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for vital local charities.
Their stars will sit alongside past honourees such as Sir Ian McKellen, Lioness Ella Toone and Olympic gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson, with unveiling ceremonies planned later this year. | | Read the full story here | | New mag out now! 📰 | | Spring is here... and so is the brand-new edition of our BoroughLife magazine! The 144‑bed hotel is a flagship element of the Fettlers regeneration scheme, which is transforming the former Galleries site into a vibrant new neighbourhood with homes, leisure, food and drink, a new market hall and more.
Once complete, the hotel will draw new visitors into the town centre, boost local businesses and create valuable job opportunities for our residents. | | Read more about the visit |

| | Boost for school safety in Leigh 🛑 | | A new 'School Street' has been launched at Westleigh St Paul's C of E Primary School in Leigh, making things safer for families at drop-off and pick-up times.
Road safety had been a long-running concern for the school, with pupils Ava and Alfie Potts completing a survey which reported many vehicles parking on the pavements and obstructing access.
Headteacher, Julie Leach said: "We've had lots of support from parents who are very happy about the School Street scheme, and this is going to be a much safer, calmer environment for parents and children."
